Article Review --- Forget What You Know About Good Study Habits

    
Studying method is the most important thing in learning. We don’t just memorize all the equations or materials the day before the test. We should keep repeating the material day after days. We could save the information in our brain longer than the information we shoved in the day before the test. Give ourselves a good environment to study. I prefer to study in a quiet room alone because I won’t get distracted. I’m not a study machine. I would need to study couple days or even weeks before the test. I study the materials teachers taught me on the day. I study them because the lectures teachers gave were still fresh in my mind. I could ‘get them out’ easily. I think finding personal study method could really help you with learning.

Movie Report --- Living Longer, Living Better- The Fountain of Youth

      Why do people all want to live until they are 100 years old or even beyond that? I personally think that living to 100 years old is a burden. I think it is a burden because someone would need to take care of me. That might cause a burden to them too. People might lose patience with me. But, in the video, it really did point out something important. That is exercise! I think exercise is very important to our health. Actually, I’m a person who doesn’t like to exercise. I think exercise is very tiring. From this video, I learnt that if I exercise half an hour a day, I could keep my body healthy and prevent diseases. Another way to keep healthy is diet. Don’t be scared to eat something that might make you fat. Your body does need to contain some fat. Eat food that could keep you in good shape, and avoid junk food. I really think our bodies are profound. Keeping we healthy and young have so many secrets that people did not realize. Our bodies are like clocks that never stop working. It goes the way it is, it may get distracted by our bad habits. So, I would keep in mind, no matter how tired I am to exercise, I should still do it. I want to keep in good shape!

Story Review --- The Devil and Tom Walker

    “The Devil and Tom Walker” is written by Washington Irving. The mood of the story is melancholy and dark. Tom Walker is a greedy person. His wife is a tall termagant, fierce of temper, loud of tongue, and strong of arm. One day Tom was walking home in the inlet. He meets the devil. Tom was not frightened by him because he had heard the stories about the devil. The devil made a treaty with him. The devil wants him to open a broker’s ship in Boston. The trade with the devil is the money. Tom got rich when he opens the shop. The funniest thing is that Tom becomes a strict church member after he opens the shop. Everyone is scared of devil, even Tom does. A land jobber begged Tom to grant a few months’ indulgence. But Tom kept reject him. Finally, Tom is irritated and said, “Devil take me if I have made a farthing.” The devil came right at his door and took him away.

Story Review --- Dr. Heidegger's Experiment

        “Dr. Heidegger’s Experiment” is Nathaniel Hawthorne’s story. I think this story is quite interesting. My favorite part was when Dr. Heidegger put the dead flower in the Fountain of Youth, and it comes back to life again. That was miraculous! When the four guests saw the miracle, they wanted Dr. Heidegger to give them some the “water”. They took the drink and felt young again. They were dancing around the room. They could not believe the images in front of them, because they were too happy. The Fountain of Youth spilled all over the floor. They realized they returned to the reality. The four guests did not learn any lesson from the experiment, but Dr. Heidegger did. He learned that life moves on and it will never turn back. You can not go back to change any sins you made.
